So I made only one new recipe this week....and it was not good! It was just ok! And I will never post a recipe that I consider to be just ok! It needs to be fantastically YUMMY! So I am sorry to say that there will be no recipe posting this week. I know, I failed you all again, but I refuse to post something that is just not up to my standards! I hope to post a recipe next week, but next week is crazy!
Matias' birthday is on April 25th. So we are celebrating his birthday over Easter weekend. My parents fly in on Thursday night and will be here until Monday evening. I am busy planning a party for Saturday and Easter dinner for Sunday. Needless to say, I am very busy! But I will do my best to post a recipe. And I will definitely post birthday party pictures!

Coupon Crazy
So I'm not an "Extreme" Couponer by any means, but I do like to save money as much as possible. I have always used coupons. The Commissary in Okinawa would allow you to use coupons 6 months past their expiration date, so I took advantage of that. However, the Commissary never doubles coupons, so you can sometimes get better deals at other grocery stores that will double coupons. I now know what is cheaper at the Commissary and what I can get cheaper at other grocery stores. For example, frozen pizza is always cheaper at the Commissary. I have yet to find it cheaper at other stores. Anyway, I just wanted to share my recent coupon purchase with you. Bloom is the best grocery store to use coupons at in our area, so that is where I do most of my coupon shopping. They will double coupons up to $.99. They also offer coupons to you at the front of the store. You just have to scan your Breeze card. Every week there is a coupon for a free item (usually costing between $10-$20) if you spend over $50 (before coupons). They sometimes have a $10 off a $40 purchase coupon in their ad. So when you combine all of that, you can get great deals!
Here is the breakdown for my shopping trip this week:
Paid $22.42
Saved $63.94
$38.40 of that was Breeze card savings
$25.54 of that was coupon savings
Some things I bought:
2 containers of Organic Salad
4 bags of Doritos
4 Wishbone Salad Dressings ($.56 EACH!)
4 Blue Bunny Ice Creams
Bag of Raw Shrimp (Free Item-Originally $15.00)
Eggs
Tortilla Chips
Grapes
Carrots
3 Cucumbers
The Shrimp and 2 bags of Doritos would have cost me $22 alone! So basically I got the rest of the stuff for free!
I know that this might not be exciting for some of you...but I get so excited when I find great deals like this!

3 Weird Things Matias Does
My child does some really weird things! He does them so often that I have just gotten used to them. However, I am sure that other people think these things are weird. I don't know, maybe all (or some) babies do this. Maybe it's not just my child. Either way, these things are just weird!
1. Matias thinks that everything (including clothes, paper, toys, books, Mommy's hair) should be torn in half or into little bitty pieces. He attempts to tear apart anything he can get his hands on! It's quite funny to watch. For some reason he thinks that he needs to put it behind his head and try to tear it apart. Weird...I know.
2. When he is not wearing pants (which is quite often), he crawls on his hands and feet, not knees! So he crawls around with his butt sticking up in the air! He actually has learned to crawl very fast like this. It is also quite amusing to watch.
3. Even though he will not eat breakfast, he will crawl around on the floor and find a non-edible item and proceed to eat it! This list includes the following: wood, plastic, mud, dirt from an indoor plant, toilet paper, crumbs, leaves, dust bunnies, etc. It is virtually impossible for me to keep him from putting these things in his mouth! My house really isn't that dirty! He just finds the one lone piece of dirt on the floor and eats it! I have literally watched him crawl all the way across the kitchen floor just to pick up one crumb that he saw! I have learned that a little dirt won't hurt him!
This list could be longer, but for now I will end it. I'm sure I will be posting more weird and crazy things of Matias in the future!

Weekly Recipe
I am so glad I am back to cooking and posting recipes! This week I made Arugula, Bacon & Mushroom Pizza! I love home made pizza and I make it often! I always make my pizza dough in the bread maker, so it is kind of made from scratch. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this recipe! Let me know what you think!

Weekly Recipe
Ok, I know I didn't post a recipe last week and I felt very guilty about it. Peter was gone and Matias just does not appreciate my cooking yet, so I just didn't really cook much last week. Anyway, I recently visited a friend of mine and she made this super good, super easy recipe! I call it the "No Veggie" Burrito! It is a great recipe for those of you trying to get your kids to eat green vegetables! Let me know what you think!

Weekly Recipe
Check out my weekly recipe... Pot Roast Meat Loaf! This is a fix it and forget it kind of meal! I usually make a salad to go along with it, but other than that, the rest of your meal is in one LARGE pan, which means fewer dishes to wash! Just click on the link to get the recipe! Hope you enjoy it!Thursday, March 17, 2011
It's Been a While...
I want to apologize for not making posts over the past month! I am so sorry that I have not posted recipes for you all! It has been a little crazy around here. About mid-January we found out that I was PREGNANT! Yeah! Everything was going really good. It was a little bit harder having to take care of a child while dealing with nausea and tiredness, but still easier than I expected. Then Matias and I flew to Illinois to visit family. During that time we both got the flu. (We both also got the flu shot!!! So much for that!) The flu knocked me on my butt! I was soooo sick! Thankfully Matias was over the flu in 24 hours. However, I felt the effects of the flu for almost 2 weeks! My nausea was soooo much worse and I didn't want to eat anything, but I had to EAT or I would be nauseous from NOT EATING! Therefore, I was not cooking or cleaning or doing much of anything. All I wanted to do was sleep! Thankfully I am feeling much better. Still dealing with nausea and feeling overly tired, but my appetite is back and I am back to cooking! So I will post a recipe this week. Hopefully today or tomorrow! And I will be back to blogging!
Oh, by the way, I am currently almost 12 weeks and the baby is due October 2, 2011. My first ultrasound looked good. However, due to my first pregnancy (anecephaly) they are scheduling me a level 2 ultrasound around 18-20 weeks just to get a better look at the spine and skull. Please keep me and the baby in your prayers! Not sure how I am going to handle 2 kids under the age of 2, but we will cross that bridge when we get there!
